Finding a good fit.
There are a lot of competent therapist, but successful therapy relies on more than just a competent therapist. It requires a good fit -- a good working relationship.
The following is a brief overview of the types of therapy Dr. Sapp offers to help you decide if he might be a good fit for you.
- Dr. Sapp provides individual therapy for adolescents and adults. While there is sometimes a need to include other family members in individual treatment, Dr. Sapp does not offer ongoing family or couples therapy.
- Dr. Sapp has experience working with a wide-range of ages (12 y/o +) and difficulties -- including anger management, behavioral issues, grief, PTSD, and difficulties adjusting to major life changes. He specializes in working with adolescents, and with adults who suffer from anxiety disorders or depression, or who are having trouble recovering from trauma (e.g., accidents, abuse, neglect, victims of crime, combat, etc.).
- Dr. Sapp has been trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic theories, but in most cases he favors the use of TRM -- a biological skills-based treatment.
Ultimately, Dr. Sapp will work with you to develop the best intervention given your needs and goals.
